Borading and Care

At Watson Horse Farm, we keep things simple—horses come first, and how they’re managed reflects that.

This is a smaller, hands-on program where each horse is cared for based on what they need, not a set routine across the board.

We are not a high-traffic barn, and we do not run on a “one way fits all” system. Every decision—from turnout to feeding—is made with the individual horse in mind.

Retirement & Low Key Horses

Many of the horses here are in retirement or simply living a slower-paced life.

That means:

  • Consistent routines

  • Close daily observation

  • Adjustments made as needed (not ignored)

  • A quieter environment with less stress

This is a place where horses can settle in, stay comfortable, and be managed appropriately as their needs change.

How to Operate

  • Horses are turned out and brought in based on conditions, not convenience

  • Feeding is individualized per horse

  • Daily care is hands-on and consistent

  • We make decisions based on what is best for the horse overall

We do not run everything past owners before making routine care decisions. Horses are managed in real-time as needed.

What this program is (and isn't)

This is a good fit if you:

  • Trust the barn to manage your horse appropriately

  • Want consistency and attention to detail

  • Prefer a quieter, more controlled environment

This is NOT a good fit if you:

  • Want to micromanage daily care decisions

  • Prefer a high-traffic or highly social barn

  • Expect constant updates on routine changes

What Sets Us Apart

  • No two horses are managed the same

  • We adjust care as conditions change

  • We know each horse individually

  • The environment stays calm and controlled

  • Decisions are made with long-term soundness and comfort in mind

The Setup

  • 170+ acres of pasture

  • Ramm horse-safe fencing

  • Automatic waterers (stalls & turnout)

  • Indoor arena

  • Indoor wash rack (hot & cold water)

The layout allows horses to move, settle, and live in a way that supports both physical and mental well-being.
